Online Pedagogy
Currently, all policy courses at WSU are available online. We use Blackboard (Bb) to facilitate online and blended instructional environments.
When training our faculty for online teaching Dr. Martin recommends Bill Pelz’s three principles of effective online pedagogy:
These three principles are:
(1) engage student in content
(2) promote student–to-professor and student-student interaction, and
(3) strive for online presence
Dr. Smith teaches traditional lecture & discussion classes with an online component on Bb to manage grades and online discussion boards for readings and to deliver instructional content. Bb is closed to members of the class.
Dr. Martin teaches all of her classes online using Bb but has students engages and deliver in assignments and activities using Weebly, a public site that anyone may view.
